What are the project objectives?

Participation of Egyptian staff with EU-staff in training post/under graduate students on Engineering Economy (EE), and   development of a prototype EE educational material that will include the usage of most recent teaching facilities in addition to a wide spectrum of model applications.

Who are VISION partners?

Egypt:
Faculty of Engineering Cairo University (FECU): FECU was established in 1816 as the first Egyptian School of Engineering. Today, FECU is the oldest and largest faculty of engineering in the Middle East.
Dr. Sayed Kaseb worked in many engineering education and skills development programs, and conducted 30 techno-economical consultations for "National Bank of Egypt" (largest one in Egypt). He is the manager of "Pathways to Higher Education, Egypt"; a project funded by Ford Foundation, USA.
 
Italy:
Naples Federico II: The University Federico II is the oldest state University in Europe
Renato Rizzo is a teaching staff member and researcher in the field of Electrical Machines and Drives, at present he is Professor of Electromechanical Design at Faculty of Engineering. He is Professor Honoris Causa of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (Romania), IEEE Member, Treasurer of ANAE. Member of "Giunta di Dipartimento" (Electrical Engineering Department Committee)
 
Greece:
Technological Educational Institutes (TEI) of Piraeus: TEI has been established in 1983. TEI covers the technological component of the higher education in Greece and today it is equivalent to the universities, however with a strong practice and laboratory component.
Emilia Kondili has the responsibility for a number of courses in the area of industrial engineering, such as engineering economics and project management, production and industrial management, and operations research.
 
United Kingdom:
University of York:  The University was founded in the early 1960s. Today, it is among the top ten UK universities.
Tony Ward is a senior lecturer in engineering management with specific responsibility for the management programs and for the development of behavioural, business and enterprise skills in its students.

1. Knowledge Transfer between Egyptian and EU Staff.
2. Training of Post/Under Graduate Students and Teaching Assistants.
3. Development of Modern Training Educational Material.
4. Establishment of Pilot Audio-Visual Digital Library and its accessories.

Who are the target Students and Engineers?

Beneficiary students, engineers and staff members

Post and under graduate students, engineers, teaching assistants and staff members of Faculties of Engineering in All Egyptian Universities.

II

Post and under graduate students, engineers, teaching assistants and staff members of Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University.

III

Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University (FECU):

Post-graduate students, research students, engineers and teaching assistants, as well as students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of different departments .

note:

1. Senior male students (students of 4th year) who must apply for their military service, will be able to attend the first three training weeks according to the filtering process.
2. By the end of each training week, trainees will be apply to a test and receive a certificate.
3. Post Graduate and employed applicants will be able to receive official paper of their affiliation to the training program, when needed.

What are the filtering rules?

The filtration strategies tried to select the willing applicants. It mainly measures the applicants interest and seriousness while filling and submitting the required documents. Moreover, trainees of First Week were selected to represent the diversity of following categories:
1. Different departments in FECU.
2. Different trainees (Students, graduates and teaching assistants).
3. Gender (female, male).
4. Different grades (fair, good, very good, distinction).

What are the training fees?

This is a totally free training program. Applicants who applied will benefit from the project: it is planned that all applicants who were not selected will benefit from the project as follows:
They benefit from softcopy of EE educational material downloaded from the project website, or
They receive a hardcopy of EE educational material from the project administration.

  • What follows this project?

    This pilot project may be extended to teach a complete course or even semester in EU-Countries, or by EU-Professors in Egypt, as a requirement of completion of a certain Egyptian program.
